All businesses and multi-family complexes are required to separate organic waste, such as food scraps, plant trimmings, and cardboard, from the garbage.
Each year, residents can dispose of bulky items and electronics during a collection event. Collection events are held each May and November. There is no cost for collection during these events, and residents may place unlimited amounts of bulky items and e-waste, including:
All items must be able to be moved by two-man crews or they will not be collected
Not acceptable items include all hazardous wastes or materials, such as oil, solvents or paints, no construction debris, such as concrete, asphalt, lumber or drywall and no equipment or vehicles.
Residents may also receive up to 2 free special collections each year. Call to schedule special collections at least 24 hours before your regular day of collection.
Before placing items at the curb, please consider donating all working, usable items to local thrift stores and charities that support our communities and help keep materials out of landfills.

Roll-out Service / Backyard Services
NASA offers curbside Roll-out and Backyard Services to customers, upon request, for an additional charge. Roll-out services include the collection of refuse, green waste and recycling carts, from a location other than curbside. The service requires that the driver dismounts the collection vehicle in order to obtain the carts from their storage location, empty them and properly return them to their storage location.
*To utilize this service the customer must grant to NASA the right of access onto their premises in order to carry out the services and carts must not exceed 60 pounds.
NASA is a firm believer in recycling as much as possible; therefore we offer special collection and recycling of horse manure and bedding.
Working with a local facility, all materials are composted rather than disposed in a landfill. Research has shown that composting this material provides the following benefits:
There are many items that may not be placed in your regular curbside trash, recycle or green waste carts. These include items such as construction debris, large bulky items, electronic wastes, hazardous wastes, motor oil and medical wastes. To help you dispose of these materials, please review the following information.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)– It is illegal to dispose of hazardous waste improperly. For proper disposal of HHW call 888-CLEANLA or visit www.888CleanLA.com. No hazardous waste may be placed in the curbside containers, including the following: NO: Antifreeze, batteries, auto fluid, cleaning products, flammables, herbicides, motor oil, paint, pool supplies, light bulbs, sharps, propane.
Proper Paint Disposal – Proper disposal and recycling of paint is the LAW in California. Paint may not be disposed of in the trash or down the drain. Unused paint may NOT be ‘dried-out’ in an open container due to strict air quality regulations. Drop-off sites are located throughout California for the collection and reuse/recycling of paint and primers, stains, sealers, and clear coatings in 5-gallons or less. To locate a drop-off near you, visit https://www.paintcare.org/drop-off-sites/
Motor Oil -It is illegal to improperly dispose of used motor oil. It may only be disposed of at a certified collection point. You can receive $.40/gal that you recycle.
